But, having read the document, he chose to ignore the specific recommendations which came from working sessions within the committee. The Superintendent recommended closing Wells and Narcosli schools despite committee recommendations that if option #2, school closure, was pursued, that Wells and Narcosli specifically be excluded.

The comittee further recommended that closures be pursued only after:
· checking the times students will spend on buses;
· making boundary adjustments to lower distances travelled;
· supporting community schools (Wells);
· determining the maintenance costs of closed schools ;
· keeping the Wells school open. possible considerations for doing so included creating a k-8, exploring distance education delivery models and creating a destination school.
