Re: Well School Closure

Dear Ministers:

As a resident, parent and president of a small business in the North Cariboo, I am extremely concerned about the recent school closure in wells for a number of reasons.

1. I have explored the rational given by School District and have found it to be based on a flawed economic analysis.

2. As a parent and a resident who frequently drives the road from Quesnel to Wells in the Winter, I cannot imagine any rationalization of bussing young children to Quesnel. My business partner's son was killed on that road because of winter driving conditions.

3. The closure of the school will not only impact Wells, but will in my opinion have a negative economic impact on the whole region. The area is just beginning to open up as a tourist area. Wells is central to this economic activity and will not survive without a school.

As a tax payer, both personal and corporate, I do not have any problem with any extra costs (and I believe they are not significant) to keep this school and community alive.

Yours truly,
Grant Schaan
