The Pirates of Pens and Pencils
a silent fable
Once upon a time, there was a happy town with a happy school.
Then one day, pirates from far away met in secret.
They took the school from the children & told them they had to travel
to a school far far away.
They turned the little school into money for other people.
The children tried everything.
They wrote letters and asked nicely.
They shared ideas and alternative budgets.
They even demonstrated.
But the pirates refused to listen.
So the children went to the mountains.
They asked the ghost of Judge Begbie, who lived high in the clouds, to
help them.
Judge Begbie came down from the heights and sternly ruled against the
pirates.
He made them give back the money.
And the children put their school back together.
Cariboo history was on their side.
