Letters sent to The Premier, Minister of Education, MLA's and Quesnel School District Trustees...

Sat, 27 Jul 2002

I am writing to protest your decision to close the Wells-Barkerville School. It is unbelievable that in
this day and age you would even think of such a move. It would be a death knell for our community, and the horrible road the kids would have to travel to access a school in Quesnel is very dangerous. I protest the raise you have given your administration.

Wells has been my home base for the past 28 years, I own a lot of property there and I have always found the Wells School to be very dynamic, and an integral part of our community. I have no children myself, but I attend every single event held at the school from X-mas concerts to fundraising bingos.

Please take some time to think about your decision and the consequences of your actions. How would you feel if your child had to travel 80 km on a mountain road to go to school?? How would it be if your schools were closed?
Sincerely,
Sharon L. Brown
