Letter written July 19, 2002 to Hon. Christy Clark, Premier Gordon Campbell, Dr. John Wilson, MLA, and all Quesnel School District Trustees:

We commend Claire Kujundzic on her brave decision to begin a hunger strike to back up demands that the Wells-Barkerville school be kept open.
It seems incredible that a B.C. citizen must resort to taking such an extraordinary action, in defense of our communities and public services.
Children should never be forced to take a bus some 80 kilometres each way to school.
I urge you to take immediate steps to address this emergency situation, for the sake of the families and residents of the Wells-Barkerville area, and the health of Ms. Kujundzic.
On behalf of the more than 60,000 members of the BCGEU, I assure you that our union will continue to do everything in its power to support the efforts of local citizens to protect our public services.
